I Am Worried

I applied for this sales job at a job agency. I thought I would like it since it was a lot of phone work trying to talk to clients to get them to come back which is what I already do at my current job. But when I did the interview, I felt like the job wasn't for me. I am an artistic person. I don't feel like I am meant for the corporate life even if it pays well. Also, I didn't like how when the job asked for three references, they would make the references answer eighteen questions about myself. Who has time for that? When I did the second interview, I could tell after I did not get the job considering the interview was only ten minutes and I could tell they did not like my theater background. I was relieved when they e-mailed me back telling me I didn't get the job. The problem is telling my parents I didn't. I don't want them to judge me and act like I did something wrong or be disappointed in me. I got a virtual internship in my field where I'll edit footage as well as write articles. It was advertised as paid but then I found out yesterday that it isn't for pay for now because it's a startup company and the owner is trying to get sponsors. When he does, then he said we'll talk payment for my work. I am fine with that. I know in the film industry, it can take a while to make money. But my parents do not always see things that way. I'm worried they'll tell me I'm wasting my time with this internship if it's not for pay. But with the work I do for it, it's more work to add for my resume and portfolio. I just need the support from them. Not disappointment.
Any internship that you can put ona resume to build your experience will be beneficial. Too often people find their selves unable to get a job at all straight out of school because they haven't worked in the field yet. Do
All of the internships you can, and remind your parents how vital they are and how hard it is to find or that actually pays. I would continue to look around at other opportunities though. Just in case you can find one more solid...you want something that's been around a long time and has a reputation, something that can make you stand out.

I'm just worried that businesses won't care about the internships that don't pay. That they'll want paid experience. That businesses will care more about the work I contribute than about the business it would be for.
They're not going to care about whether you got paid. They're going to care if it was a reputable place that you could have earned applicable skills for the job you are applying. None of my internships were paid. One was a new company that didn't do much to boost my impression on employers, but three were top notch, reputable places that gave me great experience. So don't stress about the pay :) Just look for a place with a good reputation that will allow you to get involved and learn.
I think an internship, paid or not, shows employers that you are doing something other than sitting around doing nothing.
It's like listing volunteer work.
I've tried, and turned down, jobs that were not for me. Then I got a call from a place I don't even remember applying too. He hired me and it's perfect for me.
Trust your gut.
