I Am An Introvert

Tomorrow I go back to work. It is usual for colleagues to ask about where I had gone for my holidays. Both breakfast and lunch we will be having at the work venue. There will be plenty of conversations about work and non-work as we eat.

It will be a feat if I do not return at the end of the day totally drained, exhausted and with a massive headache. I have a box of Panadol Extra ready in my bag. God bless the man who invented Panadol.

Introverts have it tough in the workplace where the virtues of 'teamwork' are extolled. I feel worse than a prisoner on life sentence. At least he has time to do some thinking in his cell.

Those who are not introverts will never understand how human interaction drains us. We are like a boat, and interaction is a hole water comes through, until we sink. We need (NEED) our times alone like the air we breath. That's why we really crave for some free time during lunchtime.

This obsession with 'teamwork' really sucks. Teamwork may be good for some people, but not for everyone. Some of us, due to our temperament, are more efficient working on our own. But it is not understood, and we are seen as cold, aloof and even arrogant.

Hope Panadol helps you to get through the end of the day. You are a really strong woman and you will make it.
