I Am An Introvert

I enjoy coming home to my little space, tuning in to my favorite Calm Radio station and listening to guitar music. I love tending to my plants, making sure their petals are not turning yellow, watching out for new buds and savouring the moments when those little buds peel open and reveal flowers in their resplendent beauty. I talk to them very day, coaxing them to take their nutrients and shifting them to new positions when I see them getting even a little annoyed with too much or too little sun. I make dinner and then sit with my boy to do some reading or work at night. I need so much of these times of quiet.

In another week, I have to go to camp 😁😁😁 with the kids in school. I really dread it. There will be those group outdoorsy activities which I dislike. But nothing can match my dread for the campfire where kids are made to do the darnest things like cheer their guts out. And I hope they do not make the teachers go up and do a dance. Crap.

I am already feeling sick thinking about the three days.

@polyandry - thanks for your suggestion. I have already found him. He lives half a world away. We talk every day. His words mean a lot to me. I guess I am not one to crave activity, so the distance is not a problem. I value more the connection we have through whatever means we can find. And the nature of my job is such that I do not have time and energy to sustain a real life physical relationship and it would have died due to neglect.

@muldoon- I like kids. I enjoy my classroom interaction with them. And I really like that they are so curious and full of wonder at the world. I just do not enjoy having them for extended periods of time in an unfamiliar place where everyone has to spend two nights together in close proximity doing social activities. It freaks me out really.

Oh I completely understand!! I always skip ahead in my head to what I will do after the ordeal. Like picture yourself back home doing those things you love. Reminds me "this too shall pass" and I'll survive it just as I have many other such situations. Hope it turns out better than you're thinking!

@cierzo- the problem with extroverts is that they think everyone else is like them. And they thrive on having mass participation, so if anyone decides to opt out, they take it as a personal affront. I have experienced it a lot. It strengthens my resolve that when it comes to taking leadership, introverts must learn to rise up, take on the challenge, get out of their comfort zone and set the agenda for others. It is a belief that has guided me all this time.

I relate to nature also. My suggestion is to find an older man who also is a naturalist to share your emotions with.

November moon:

You are a very interesting person, after reading the rest of the posts, I realize that I was a little off base. 1. sounds like you are a teacher 2. I understand introverts but wonder what they do to enjoy life. I am a loaner so to speak, and definitely not an introvert, just the opposite. I do have PTSD and lots of things bug me, crowds, fireworks, and the most irritating is incompetence Anyway, I just wanted to share with you

Hey, figure out a way to get involved more, you get out there and teach the kids a great yell. Kids love to me kids and sometimes we adults do not allow them to grow through communication with others. I work with kids through out the school year and there are so many rewards just watching them grow into young adults

I am an introvert too. I don't have problems with extrovert as long as they don't have a persuading 'the more we are, the more fun we will have activities,.
You want to dance, dance. Respect that I do not want to.

It's amazing to see kids with all that energy.

Novembermoon,it id true that many extroverts behave like that, thinking that introverts have an extrovert inside that needs to be released. And it is not like that :)
It is not a matter of extroversion or introversion, but of respect and acceptance that we are different.
