homeless people eat with an arm up,in an protective manner are they afraid of scavengers or is the eating experience so personal to them they shield their meal?
This is just a guess, because I have never asked, but i think it might have something to do with a semblance of privacy. It may not be much, but it is what they can manage.
Most of us are in denial. We hide from the truth because if we know, we may feel that we have to do something.
In my case, i know that the little i can do, and the little bit i do, doesn't even scratch the surface. So, whenever possible, i select one to do it all for. It is still very little, but it seems like more, to that one person; and to me. A tiny smidgen of salve on a great gaping wound, but it is all I can manage.
