No, I believe it was incompetence and poor management of a lab, followed by the Chinese governments culture of never admitting anything bad happens in their country.

The purpose was retribution for Trump's trade policies with China. As a bonus, it might help to get Joe Biden elected.

No if something was deliberate they would have introduced a far deadlier virus.

oooooooorrrrrrrr it could be just a virus like any other, no conspiracies, no magic, nothing, normal rational explaination.

It could have had many proposes:

Reduce population in the first instance, more elderly die less pensions to pay out, less money spent on sick elderly people.
Also lots of people found they had cancer and other life threatening illness too late due to lockdown so reducing the population. Also suicides went up as well.
Economic crashes will now happen giving governments more control over companies (people saying NHS will be sold and made private) etc
Get everyone to beg for more lockdowns and take a vaccine still in the testing stages due to fear (some valid and some not) and to introduce the lockdown process which governments can now use whenever they want as long as they can keep plugging the fear through the media.

Obviously some of these could be considered a bit out there but hey...

I think it was an accident. BUT .... What was the intention behind weaponizing it??? That is what we should be really wondering about.

No I don't believe it was a release in the first place, I don't discount other possibilities but believe it came from the wild till proven otherwise. Besides if it was to reduce the population it was a failure, did not kill enough, need a much higher kill rate to significantly effect that.

I'd say that about a great many viruses over the last century or 2. It's what happens when a species becomes overpopulated and the predators don't keep up.
