I Am a Workaholic

Not by choice. I wake up at 5 am and get home not earlier than 5 pm most days. Last week was worse. After dinner, I work again. At work, we have to be positive and smile and sugar-coat everything we say, so that we project an image that everything is shiny and healthy. Today, I lay in bed the whole day unable to get up. I was thinking of ways never to wake up.

Dear WithinTheHeart, thanks for your concern and for replying. Today I did no work and I intend to keep it that way until tomorrow Sunday. I will have to start again tomorrow. The Monday Labour Day holiday will be a working one for me. But at least I have a place to write again.

You are welcome. I have been working too much as well. Sometimes I just prefer it that way but I decided to take the whole weekend away from work as I am starting to get burned out. I have been relaxing in the silence this morning and am getting ready to go for a walk in the cool morning air...listen to some music and just....BE!
I hope you can find some peace and quiet and just some time to free your mind a bit.
It's good to see you here. Have a great day.

MrW888, thanks for asking. I have asked myself this question so many times.
Fact is - every job here is like that. I have been in this job for close to twenty years.
I teach. But here, it is not just teaching. It is administration and a whole lot of other
things. I have thought of leaving it but have not summoned the courage to throw in
the towel.

Having to show positiveness and agree with all the politically correct crap we take every day makes work load double.
I am so sorry you have to go through all this. If things do not change, and your thoughts remain, it is time for a change.
Having to appear a certain way just to hang on to your job, is slavery. No wonder you think of ways to never wake up. Can you find a place to work where you can be yourself?

what about transferring to another place of education? (Or applying for a new job with the same skill set), a change they say is as good as a rest.

Dear Stace, thanks for your reply. Now that there is a place for me to write my thoughts, I do feel better. Hope your day is a good one.

Why do you have to work this hard? For the money?
(I took a step down in lifestyle to get my life back).
... am having a hunch, the typical Good Morning greeting ... might be out of line

Give your mind and body the rest it needs to regenerate. You will feel better. ((Hugs))
