I Love Rock Music

IMO John Entwhistle was probably the most influential bass guitar player WHO ever lived thus far...

I haven't heard his solo stuff but yeah, he's a dude...and what a great instrument...I just ended up thinking about that kid, (well..youngish man) who played fretless on Paul Simon's Graceland, can't remember his name but I remember reading somewhere that his intonation was absolutely bang on the button...every note, every time. Not easy.

@helenS That's way too technical for a simple soul like me 😊

@ArtieKat Essentially, the VPN generates a fake IP address for me, so I appear to be in London, or Berlin, or Denver. If a video is licensed only for the UK – fine, I'm there!
Highly recommended.

@helenS I guessed really :-)
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Entwistle was the most exciting bassist in my opinion. John Paul Jones had a better musical understanding.
I saw Entwistle with The Who in 2000.

@Entwistle You were most fortunate to see Entwistle play with The Who. Yeah, I kind of agree about JPJ but think of the brasswork that Entwistle scored and played overdubbing individual parts...

@Orpheus Good point. However John Paul Jones was an arranger and he played several other instruments too.
I prefer Entwistle's work though.

No that was Jaco.

@helenS Do you know what? I got back on SW after a few years respite and saw this post wot I had written (how's that for grammar?) and thought...That is so f***ing crap and I didn't know how to delete it. Anyway, I'm glad you brought my attention to it...by dragging my crap post out into the broad daylight again!🙂 Jaco Pastorius cannot be underestimated, agreed. Tony Levin. Carol Kaye...

@Orpheus Tony Levin is da man! The Chapman stick man. I first heard him when he was Peter Gabriel's bass player. I love Tony's solo records.
Tony Levin: “Peter Gabriel said, ‘Why don’t you attach two drum sticks to your fingers?’"
