I like old music, BUT…

A common conversation I have when discussing my musical taste with strangers:

Me: “I prefer old music over modern music.”
Stranger: “Oh, so you must like 80s music! Do you prefer Journey or Iron Maiden?”
Me: “Ew, neither. No offense, but the 1980s were the worst decade in music.”
Stranger: “Huh? I thought you said you like old music.”
Me: “Yeah, that’s not old. Older than me I mean.”
Stranger: “Okay, so do you like Queen?”
Me: “Older.”
Stranger: “The Beatles?”
Me: “Older.”
Stranger: “Elvis?”
Me: “Keep going…older.”
Stranger: “……was music even a thing before then?”
Me: 🤦‍♂️
