I Love Railways

I am one of the Railway children. I grew up on the railway. When I was little on the summer holidays my grandfather took me to work with him. Get me out the house! My grandfather was a stationmaster and I spent my summers playing on the platform. The engine drivers used to give me rides down the line in the cab. I suppose my grandfather knew where I was. But it didn’t seem to be a problem. There was always a train coming back and a cup of tea in the signal box. And one signal box was by the river. And between trains the signalman used to fish so quite often I would arrive home with salmon! Ok. I got to grow up! It’s the real world!
