I Grew Up Without a Father

I don't even know who my father is. Every time I've ever tried asking my mom about him, she always shut me down. I spent my childhood thinking it was my fault he was never there so I tried incredibly hard to be perfect so my mom wouldn't leave me too. It was exhausting. I'm glad I've been able to slowly let go of trying to be perfect but it'd still be nice to know who he is and why he was never there.

I've tried asking relatives. They won't tell me anything. They say it isn't their place to tell me; it has to come from my mom.
