I Am Impotent

I’m impotent but I’m still a sexual person. After surgery for prostate cancer many years ago I gradually regained some ability for an erection but that faded and now nothing happens. And yet my brain still responds, I have sexual thoughts and desires but virtually no way of responding to them.

Don’t call it erectile dysfunction please. Firstly it’s not a temporary or fixable condition. More importantly there’s also a sense of powerlessness that the word impotent implies. Especially when the world is a very sexualised environment.

I’m not in a relationship and don’t expect to be but that doesn’t worry me so much as I have family and friends I’m close to. I’ve also learned that any pleasure gained from intimacy is outweighed by the frustration.

Hey Buddy, I have suffered from impotence for many years. Recently I have been considering having an implant. In August, I met with a dr who does the surgery. As of yet, I have not had the surgery, but certainly still considering it.

I’d be interested to hear how it goes. It has never appealed to me. @Pauly
