I thought this was a kids game and meant to be easy

Minecraft is a sandbox game, which means it has no general purpose, no clear objective you need to discover everything yourself. My opinion is that it's crap when you play it alone, but with a friend or two it's a fun factory. The game isn't about being hard or easy, it has unlimited potential that is limited ONLY by your creativity and imagination, you can build all kinds of things there, I personally like building myself Castle/house hybrids with big rooms and several floors. Darkness is something you need to watch out for, at night skeleton archers, zombies and creepers (green things that explode when they come to you) will spawn and most of them will be burned by sunlight. What you can do against them is mine for iron and chop wood for trees, with enough iron you can make armor, weapons and a shield.
@IndigoSavage It depends, if you're using creative mode where you dont need to worry about resources and you know what you're doing about 20-30 minutes for me, if you're testing stuff out and making the design as you go it takes longer depending on how experienced you are, if you're in survival mode and you have to procure those blocks you place it will take hours. Also I play that on a computer, don't know how you'd manage on a phone
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic Yeah. Here we had a custom-built one when we played with shaders, because it added fancy stuff like depth and reflections. But otherwise we always played on vanilla textures. Unfortunately I don't remember where I've saved pics of our builds, that server was glorious.
@Elessar That's a pity, I always enjoy seeing what others build, the person's style is like a fingerprint, almost in all cases it's unique for each one
@Elessar @IndigoSavage Yep, we all built wooden boxes with doors and called them houses. You'll need to practice a lot and eventually you'll discover your style and how to combine different blocks and how to create unique shapes. That's the beauty of minecraft, there is no table there you can make so you use a wooden fence and a wooden pressure plate to make it look like one.
