I Like To Do Urban Exploration
Sometimes A Good Imagination Is A Bad Thing...
Ok, this was something that happened to me last weekend. I had been out searching and found this huge old place that used to be a furniture factory. There are two buildings: the huge factory itself, a four story place with basement and all. Then a three story slightly smaller warehouse. Well when I drove by and saw a for sale sign then a little farther down a door that was open I didn't need any more of an invitation. Plus I had my pack with my exploring stuff with me. I carry a couple flashlights, camera tripods, a first aid kit and some chewing gum and a drink when I explore. So I parked my car and walked back and slipped inside. I found myself in what must have been the kiln area, ash covered the floor and I saw where something had been forcefully removed from a couple spots, So I looked around and snapped some pics of that srea before making my way up to what must have been the first floor on the main area. It was an old building, it had wood floors that I would have guessed to be about 8 to 10 inches thick. The building as a whole was in pretty decent condition aside the damage in the area I mentioned earlier, and the roof needing replaced in that section. Well that and the usual broken windows courtesy of neighborhood vandals. Though many were boarded up, making the back half of the place darker than the front. It was the back that I was exploring, taking pics and also paying close attention to the floor. I had noticed an office, or breakroom near where I entered this are that had severe water damage, not sure if it was from the roof or the windows, but the floor was rotted through and I saw ssigns of water camage in a couple other places close to the rear wall, the rest of the floor was fine. But the further into the building I got, the more my mind raced. And being on the darker side, it wasn't totally dark, but was dim enough to need my flashlight to help see. I began to get to a few areas that the top la<x>yer of flooring, half inch tongue and groove slats that had lifted s bit and creaked a little when stepped on. Well it didn't take long for my mind to run amuck, that tends to happen when I'm alone and its quiet. The more I walked the more the thoughts of the floor collapsing and my falling to the basement filled my mind. I kept thinking back to that grey block house with its falling second floor. It didn't take long for me to get to where I was almost tiptoeing and fighting the urge to run back to where I was and knew thigns were fine. Of course I got back there, took a few deep breaths and cursed my imagination once again before pressing on. I was cautious as far as I went on that floor, but partway through I decided to go back and look into the basement. Things were fine after that, though the basement was pitch black I found it oddly peaceful. And this allowed me a ciew of the upper floor from its nderside, which seems to be in good condtion. I'll put the pics of this place up on my photobucket soon, need to sort through and get some of them edited. And I still have to finish exploring this place and the main factory.
