I Like To Do Urban Exploration

One Time I Can Think Back On And Laugh About....
I was out on this Saturday afternoon looking for abandonments to explore. I was bored out of my mind and a bit frustrated since I still haven't been able to find this stretch of road that wsa like a ghost are with empty ouse that stretched out for miles. I did notice this one hotel that looked promising until I found it locked down tight. So I was driving around in the middle of nowhere, I mean there were stretches that I drove for twenty minute to a half hour before I came to signs of life. After driving for a while I did end up on this road that had a mixture of hunting camps and a few residences. I was scanning both sides of the road looking for something deserted when I did notice this little block house that sat back from the road amid a row of trees. I park the car along side the road, grab my camera and head in for a closer look. from the outside the place looked sound enough. The roof was obviously deteriorating and it wsa showing signs of sitting untended for quite some time. After circling the house, snapping pics of the exterior I find myself at the front door again. I gently opened the aluminum storm door, having to push the fallen porch roof up a bit for the door to swing out and give me access. The entry door was left wide open and seemed like an invitation to any would be explorer. That was as far as that invite went with me as soon as I was able to see inside. I needed a few moments for my eyes to adjust to the darkness created by the heavy curtains still on the windows and the late afternoon outside. This place was far worse inside than it looked from the outside. As I stood just inside the door I could see that in some spots I was eye level with the second floor. Other spots toward the back of the small house, the upper floor was completely collapsed. So I stood there and decided to take what pictures I could from my standing point. Not knowing the condition of the first floor and having no desire to end up laying in a basement of an abandoned house with a broken leg or back made me stay put. An eerie feeling hung in the air and had me a little unnerved as I took my pictures. Then as I took a shot of the small bedroom, I heard this loud thump from the upstairs, directly above my head. The best way to describe it would be someone standing on a bed or dresser and jumping to the floor while wearing shoes. I froze for a moment and nearly dropped my camera. When I finally moved again I turned and bolted. I shoved past the stuck storm door in my haste to leave, which in turn grabbed the pocket and side of my hoody. I found this out as soon as I felt the hard yank as I was jerked by my sweatshirt and I was thrown to my knees as it tore free. I was nearly face first in the ground before I got my senses back, and then was just mad that my fairly new hoody was ruined. I liked that one.

Do you usually go take the pictures by yourself or do you bring along any friends?
