I Am Currently Writing A Book

Just finished it, actually. It's only 118 pages. It's memoirs about my years as a teacher in a public mental hospital working with teen students and also adults judged to be criminally insane.

I'm feeling sad. I worked very hard on it about 4-5 hours a day, Sundays off, for about 2-3 months. I worked most of the summer. I am recovering from an illness and it wasn't easy. It came out pretty well, or at least the way I'd envisioned it.

I texted my niece. She texted back "Congrats" but showed no interest in reading it.

I know this is pretty much the reaction I can expect. Books don't sell at all unless you go out and push them, publicize them. Sometimes they don't sell even if you do.

It's depressing if your own family is not interested. My niece and I are drifting apart. And I have not been making an effort to change that because, along with my book writing project, I've been making that effort all summer and now it's time to back off.

One friend read it and liked it. I was so pleased! And I do plan to send the typescript on to two other friends tomorrow. 3 readers are better than none.

i thinks she didn't realize it hurt you a lot. but deep down, she might like your book, just the content, may be not her cup of tea. you can ask her, what her genre.. just suggestion. i respect people with authentic art

Thank you. But I won't ask her. It would be a waste of time and money to send it to her. She won't read it. She's busy and has other things on her mind.

then it's okay, others will find it interesting as you do

I might get it together to publish on Amazon later on this year.
