Reading Sanmao's Stories of the Sahara and getting lost in it.
I really need to escape my work.
Cierzo · M
Sanmao's stories are really a great escape from our reality in our 'developed' countries where people are only seen as working and consuming machine.

In her stories people are that, people. With their flaws, being selfish, coward, dishonest at time, but treated like humans, not like robots.
@Cierzo I don't get that about Mankind. The better our communication tech becomes, the closer we are housed, and the more we populate our cities - logic dictates that we'd connect with our fellow beings more.

But we don't - we automate our responses, and we tune out to those around us.

I ve stood and watched people in the street, and we look more like moving parts to a machine, than living souls.

So sad.

@novembermoon is that Sanmao?

@Vivaci yes. She's a Taiwanese writer who married a Spanish man and lived with him in the Sahara desert. Her story is quite tragic.
@novembermoon aawww!! Ok ...I will Google it. 😟
