I Love the Outdoors and Nature

Travel blog.
The whole day was spent in Stonehenge, England.
Indeed, Stonehenge has fascinated people for thousands of years, the monument dates back so far that it is shrouded in mystery. People speculated over the true purpose of the massive structure. Popular theories include:
- built as a religious temple?
- an astronomical clock?
- a Bronze Age burial ground?
- an alien built communication technology.
We can only speculate.
So today I stepped back 5,000yrs to explore this wonder of the world. It was so cold and windy, but it was a great day exploring the monument and the landscape, looking for answers and simply taking in the unique atmosphere.
At the end of the day, as we left the place, I felt pretty sad knowing I may not see the place again. Stonehenge will remain the same as it has always been, and my visit sparked many questions that will remain unanswered.

There's just one thing the travel guide told us: in two years time, there will be no more travel above the ground going there. All means of transportation will become underground. That will be the only change ever done in that vast place.
I was there early September, and I must of walked round and round didn't get tiered if taking in the splendor and magnificence of it, all the while looking at the surrounding area and the burial mounds in varying sizes , and as you would be aware there are numbered areas all the way around. May think im crazy but at an area with the number 7 there is a little dip in the path , I found that I stood there for about 5 minutes just staring at the area and it was as I was the only person there despite all the tourist traffic around me , I seemed quiet unaware of their presence. And it was one of the most amazing feelings of peace I have ever felt , im not religious but I think it was something spiritual and hope that I can get back there again , such an amazing and wonderful place to visit.

@warnbrobeachlover1 Oh wow, lucky you. Thank you so much for the pic. Did you see the solstice alignment they're talking about?
@SW-User Yes have a photo of it somewhere amongst all the pics I took there

Must be wonderful to travel back in time and be a part of this marvelous construction.
Here in Western Australia at Esperance, A modern day Stonehenge was built purely as a tourist attraction.

@Gusman After a couple days, I realized there are cows playing in your Stonehenge ground! That's amusing....馃槉

For me it looks a bit foreboding but it is one of the Earth鈥檚 greatest mysteries. So you can now pace yourself and not worrying about a group staying together. That must be nice but you must be missing the friends you made over the past few weeks!

@Pfuzylogic The original group has been dissolved. To each his own destination. hehe, I don't think I miss the people I met for such a short period of time. They asked for email adds, but I didn't. I take that with a grain of salt. .....I met two single ladies in the group whom I liked, but I still have to see if we will ever communicate with one another in the future....Ugh...! I just want to rest/unwind.馃サ
