I found out today a coworker is going to die. He had been battling cancer for 3 years. First with pills, then he started chemo a few months ago. He had not been to work in weeks. He went to the ER in pain last weekend, and they said it had spread to his bones and liver. There is nothing more they can do for him now, but treat the pain.

@JoyfulSilence Both of my closest friends died of cancer about five years ago. I was lucky to speak with one of them just days before he died. I felt the closure with him. I didn't with the other. That was most difficult.

@silentwriter180 I was able to spend some quality time with him since his diagnosis. The last time I saw him, the hope was to beat it. Then he stopped coming to work.

I know too well what you are going through.
Grief is a part of love. A lot different from just good old fashion sadness. Like a hole through your heart that will probably never completely heal.
You will one day find a way to both carry the pain and again be as happy as ever.
