I Have Lost a Child

I was going through my son's room the last couple of days and found a few things that I never imagined he'd even keep.

Letters from me he'd kept from while he was in college.

His sketch book with pictures he'd drawn of me, the family, and friends that he'd missed. He was a great artist.

Writing assignments he'd saved from high school. What'd he do? Copy them for his writing class in college? lol Like me, he loved to write.

My guitar I passed down to him, as I couldn't...wouldn't play again

Photo's, with thumb tacks, that he'd obviously hung on his wall, either in his dorm room or apartment, or even both. He loved to take photos of nature.

A photo of him and his girlfriend in their favorite eatery that he'd obviously asked someone to take.

A deck of cards, he loved playing gin rummy.

His Chess board. A game he tried to teach me, but never I caught on.

A teddy bear his grandmother gave to him when he was young. Still in great shape, although it's nose was missing.

His bicycling shoes. Why would they include those? Maybe because they were unique?

Other miscellaneous items that don't mean much. At least to me, anyway.

He lived simply.

I miss him dearly.

When my mother died it wasn't her dying that upset me so much, although it was bad it was going through her things afterwards that nearly broke my heart

@Ian123 Thank you. I now know the feeling. Not easy.

I would have gotten along with him so well. 🤗⭐️I love nature pictures too and love gin rummy! Yes, 😔just savor those memories sis. The grieving process is a journey in itself and will take time. 💕💙 But we KNOW we'll all be together again.😌

@Peaches I wish you could have met him. He was a wonderful young man with great spirits and love of nature and everything around him. I do miss him, but I know in my heart that with the ugliness in our world today, he's in a better place. I thank you for your kind words and care, my dear sister. XO
