I have recently driven up the Sani Pass between South Africa and Lesotho. It was ranked the #1 most scenic road, and I understand why. The road was in a poor condition; but that made the trip worth while.

I used to live among the Drakensberg mountains reasonably close to Sani pass. The view from the top of that pass is splendid isn't it ? That road has been narrow, rough and dangerous as long as I remember. It's worth it though to see the views from the mountain kingdom. The only time I left S.Africa was when I went up Sani pass.
Did you notice any of the local Toyota Hiace taxis driving that road. They are also 4x4 vehicles.
@Wraithorn Beautiful views, I did it relatively dry (the area upto the South African border post was wet). I got some photos in my album. I'm planning to rewriting this post soon.
