I Think Excellent Communication Is A Must

Guest: Why is there only one ticket for us?
Receptionist: Because you said on the form you were coming with one person.
Guest: Yes, with my wife.
Receptionist: Then you should have said you were coming with two people.
Guest: What would I do with three tickets?

How can he bring a person, if he's not bringing himself too?

[@341839,Fable] I guess he drove himself instead of being brought.

[@432388,OpenMindedPhiloSWopher] I don't quite get what you mean?
SW User
[@341839,Fable] I think he got there on his own and wasn't brought by anyone.

[@432388,OpenMindedPhiloSWopher] What I mean is that the receptionist assumes that when he says he's coming with one or two people, he includes himself, which doesn't make sense if he said he was coming with one person, because he can't bring someone unless he comes too, so it would always be at least 2 tickets?

[@341839,Fable] I think the joke went over your head. 😋 He came with his wife and his wife is only one person, so in his point of view saying he would come with one (other) meant a total of two.

[@432388,OpenMindedPhiloSWopher] Actually, what I just said was incorrect, she doesn't assume that, he assumes that. I completely get what you're saying now about him bringing himself. Perhaps I am not very good at the English language — I thought as the word 'with' is used, it can only mean he's coming with someone else; that one can't come with oneself?
SW User
[@341839,Fable] Exactly!

[@432388,OpenMindedPhiloSWopher] In that case she's dumb. 😃
