I Am Losing Weight And Have Never Been Happier

Since join Slimming World on the 29th August 2018 I have lost a total of 12lbs! Today I got my half stone award as well as being Slimmer of the Week for my group.

The lovely thing about it is that I don't feel I am denying myself. The food optimising method really is the best way to lose weight. You can still have your little pleasures as long as you stay within the limits and some foods like boiled eggs and jacket potatoes you don't even have to weigh or count. I would recommend Slimming World to anyone who is trying to lose weight.

@Mona86 No, not at all:). It's fantastic. This is how it works:

(1) When you join they give you a book (they record your weekly loses/gains in the back each week) which lists a load of "free foods" from each food group. Free foods are really low calorie foods, so you don't have to weigh or measure them. You can eat as much of them as you like. Most fresh fruit and veg is "free", as are potatoes, beans and lentils, boiled eggs, fish and meat with the skin and fat taken off. Included in the list are "speed foods" which are especially low calorie. A third of your plate should be speed foods.

(2) Then you have your healthy extras a and b which are supposed to fill you up and give you a good intake of calcium and fibre. Milk or cheese is your healthy extra a. Healthy extra b can be cereals, bread, dried, canned or cooked fruit, soups or nuts and seeds. You have to measure these and not go over.

(3) Finally you have your "syns". Anything which is not a healthy extra or free food has a syn value. They look at the sugar and fat content and work out how many syns are in it. The usual limit is 5-15 syns a day. Being a man, I get to have a few more but most days I try to stay below 10 syns. So, if you want to treat yourself to bar of chocolate or a less than slimming takeaway once in a while, you can, as long as you stay within your syn limit.
