Coolman- I don't know if you have ever heard of a little band called the Grateful Dead but when Jerry Garcia died, people mourned his loss. I mean many tears from many people. When he died, it's almost as if a piece of their past died as well.

The same goes for the death of Prince. His music was a staple to many of us in the 80's. Listening to his music was either on vinyl or a cassette tape for us. I played Purple Rain until the tape broke and I had to buy a new one. Something the kids of this generation will never experience. The nostalia is real with the passing of this man. He made relateable music. A time when a song called " Darling Nikki" was banned but it was a man, an artist pushing boundaries to have his art heard.
Prince's music was awes inspiring, not because of his name and it is indeed his real name, because he was so talented and a very awesome guitar player and writer, he wrote not only his own songs, but wrote so many for others, I guess people not from my generation will never understand or never appreciate what Prince has done for music and how many of these so called other musicians are inducted into the RNRHOF? Prince is because of his music and talent.

Coolman- You can't understand it because you didn't live in the time frame. A time when the birth of a thing called a converter box now sat on top of your tv and instead of a few channels, there were now at least a couple of dozen.

I remember watching the launch of Mtv. I sat wide eyed watching a rocket ship take off and launch and then a song called " Video killed the radio star" played. This was the start of a love affair with music videos and the artist recording them.

Coolman- Those of us in this age group grew up in a time where Mtg and Prince went hand in hand. The 80's were magical times. I adored Prince and his music and was shocked that such a musical genius was gone at such a young age. Music today, well, what they try to pass off as music will never stand in comparison to Prince. He was one of a kind.
