I Have Gotten Hell Over My Political Views

Most of my political views aren't all that popular. Especially when it comes to things like Welfare, The War on Drugs, This country's military's growing role as a World Policing Force, among other politically devise talking points.

I guess I'm best described as a liberal Democrat that holds fast to many Republican talking points at times. Especially as it concerns Gun Rights, American Family Values, the extraction and use of American Natural Resources, and the redefining of American Excellence in the manufacturing and production sectors.

Be that as it may, and despite what others might think of me or my politics, I consider myself to be a well informed, free-thinking, Independant.

I view the 2 established major parties as completely out of touch and pretty much incapable of working together towards the common goal of making this country Stronger, Richer, More Equitable, and Grounded in a solid sense of Morality and true, unbiased, Justice.

In fact, it's my unprovable opinion that every Federal, and almost all Local lawmakers and politicians are corrupted to a varying degree. They work in near total secrecy. Under suspect motives, towards suspect goals, and have no problem lying about things in order to achieve their own suspect agendas.

With perception being the better part of reality..., who's to say I'm wrong about that ?

In short, American politics are nothing short of a propagated falsehood working in a manner not consistent with the betterment of the American populace. Instead they work more towards the betterment & proliferation of the tiniest of minorities population wise. That of themselves and the richest and most well-to-do persons there are. And if that's not bad enough, they've taken to including caring for elite foreign entities and persons of power to be more important than many of our own, most glaring, domestic issues that threaten the future security, sovereignty, & posterity of this theoretically great nation of The United States of America.

Regardless of the facts..., in ignorance of our most immediate needs..., despite the clamoring wails of a populace for action and unity...., today's politicians lack the moral fiber, inner fortitude, and willingness to do:
*The Right Thing for The Right Reasons.*

It's a truly disappointing, disheartening, and otherwise embarrassing state of affairs, to be sure.

Hopefully the next generation will take it upon themselves to become:
Educated to the facts.
Free thinking individuals capable of considering facts and ideas beyond what's offered to them through the financially secured media.
People that stand up for themselves, others, human rights, and this country (of which they are vested).
Adults who use their right to vote and be heard, to take back control of the body politic and restore it to it's possible ability and glory.
The generation that recreates this country into what it was intended to be.

The Greatest, Most Enlightened, and Compassionate Country in the World.

Thanks for reading.

People don't always like my views on the war on drugs either, I believe prohibition was one of the most harmful things our government ever did to the country.

Prohibition created disrespect for the law and disrespect for religion as evangelicals were the main force behind Prohibition.

Prohibition created organized crime, it made the gangster not just well paid, but well liked. Organized crime continues today by simply finding other things prohibited because where there is demand, there will be supply.

Prohibition permanently corrupted law enforcement, the court system, and politics.

Prohibition overburdened police, courts, and the penal system.

Prohibition harmed people financially, emotionally, and morally.
Hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs because of Prohibition. People in the alcoho

Prohibition caused physical harm. Because alcohol was illegal, its purity was not regulated. Over 10,000 people died during Prohibition from drinking wood alcohol. Others who were not killed went permanently blind or had severe organ damage. The same happens today with illegal drugs — most overdoses are accidental, a result from not knowing the purity or strength of the drug. And these accidental deaths paled in comparison to how many people died because of organized crime, or died because police were putting resources towards prohibition instead of day to day crime.

Prohibition changed the drinking habits of our country, instead of going out to drink, people began drinking mostly at home. When they did go out to drink, it was often to get drunk — you couldn’t been seen with a bottle, so it was best to finish it. Hard liquor became popular because it was more concentrated and thus cheaper to smuggle. To make hard liquor more palatable, cocktails were created.
Ironically, Prohibition also increased the amount people drank. Drinking has never again returned to pre-Prohibition levels.

Prohibition prevented the treatment of drinking problems. It’s a lot harder to say you have a problem when it could land you in jail. Legally, you were either sober or a criminal — both occasional drinkers and drunks were lumped into the same category. You couldn’t go to your pastor or counselor for help — you might end up in jail.

Prohibition caused “immorality.” Evangelicals were expecting a New Jerusalem of Sobriety, but what they got was an explosion of immorality. Men and women began drinking together — they were partners in crime, and they became partners in bed. Unmarried sexual activity increased and the decade became known as the “roaring 20’s.”

Prohibition was phenomenally expensive. Some estimate the total cost was about a billion dollars in a time when a Ford factory worker made $5 a day. The government also lost a significant amount of tax revenue because alcohol sales went underground. This made the price of alcohol artificially inflated, and people spent a lot for a little liquor.

Prohibition was a massively failed attempt at legislating morality. The government’s role is to protect citizens and their property — not legislate what people are allowed to do for recreation, who they can love, or what kind of sex they can have.

So what did we do after learning the error of our ways, we started a war on drugs. We spend billions of dollars a year on “the war on drugs” and have only defeat to show for it. The only thing the government does with the war on drugs is effect the price of drugs, the better they are at fighting the war on drugs the more illegal drugs are worth and we know what more drug money fosters. Think about it.

You are spot on in your analysis of politicians in my opinion. I saw a post a few months ago, where it was suggested that they were suits like nascar drivers, with the logos of the corporations who own them on display. The corporations now decide what the politicians are going to do, it is no longer a government for the people.
