The cane was not an usual implement in mt home. At school it was the ruler or the switch. At home, the most usual implement was the leather belt (effective especially when administered on the bare butt)

@forevershorts: Society has changed. When I was a child, getting spanked wasn't out of the ordinary, it was something all children experienced. Nowadays it's very rare so a child who was spanked would, rightly, feel singled out and would resent being unfairly treated.

I am just going to throw this on the fire and see if it burns. (No pun intended) What about adult corporal punishment? If you were subjected to it, even if you knew you were guilty as sin, would you think it was fair? Why confine this to a he kids?

I would rather be subjected to corporeal punishment when I have done things wrong. The lashes force me to accept that I have done something unsatisfactorily and that I am weak. This will avoid the waste of time on denying.
