@LillyD: Remember that you don't have to be able to out swim the shark, you just have to be able to out swim the person you're diving with. 😬

All jokes aside, scuba divers are usually unlikely to encounter dangerous sharks in the areas where we dive. We mostly dive in warm shallow water, while dangerous predatory sharks prefer deeper colder water. I've been diving since 1975 and can count on the fingers of one hand the number of unexpected large-shark encounters I have had.
