I Think Social Media Does More Harm Than Good

Just something I need to get off of my chest about commenting to videos on YouTube. When I comment on a video, it is only for the person who created that video. I say my opinion, but I make sure I stay kind and not use any bad words. The way I comment is to give the owner of that video feedback, which are either compliments or ideas for improvement or what I was hoping to hear/see but didn't come. (I hate it especially when videos show a thumbnail and then I watch the whole video, but what I saw on the thumbnail image didn't come). I simply ignore every notification from other people commenting on my comments on Youtube (until just now out of curiosity... and then got disappointed as the other times before...).

Why I ignore the notifications: The replies are usually negative, name calling, rude, angry,... It looks like we're living in a world where you can't speak your mind anymore. There's no respect anymore. I believe everyone's perceptions are based on our own experiences, which are different to everyone. People need to face - over there on YouTube - that it's not about being 'right' or 'wrong'. There's no-one right and there's no-one wrong. People can just have a different point of view and there's nothing wrong with that. But what IS wrong.. is the name calling! Ugh!

When I make sure I stay polite myself (if I make any feedback for improvements I begin my words with first saying something positive about the video, then continue with "However, I would appreciate it though if..." or "However, I was hoping to get to know more about..." So. I think there's nothing wrong with the words I choose). But... other people! The words THEY use! If they disagree they call you the b-word or any other bad word. IF I happen to see such replies to my comments, I ignore them. I'm not going to get into discussion with people who are rude. It's as simple as that.

AND. I'm keeping my own inner peace by ignoring the notifications on YouTube just as I am keeping my inner peace by hiding the NewsFeed here. It's not that I want to push people away or avoid communication (there are WAY more ways to communicate with people than Facebook or any other so called 'social network'). I am just FED UP with rude people, and to see shocking photos and videos here IF I ever would want to watch the newsfeed again, which I won't, because I have been disappointed too many times already before.

Also, regardless if you believe in guardian angels or not, you can also call it your own soul or subconscious mind where you can find your own wisdom: I have meditated before and asked my guardian angel how to keep my inner peace and after a couple of minutes I could feel words coming into my minds' eye that said: 'Stay away from the media.' So, I only go to YouTube to look up music, to watch funny animals and babies, and to listen to life coaches about random topics. I go to Facebook to play Gardens Of Time and share beadwork and learn new techniques. I go to Pinterest to gain inspiration for beaded paintings and I use Similar Worlds to help people with advice about life when I notice someone needs some words of comfort. These ways I don't think I interact too much with the media. To me, the words "Stay away from the media" are the most comforting words I have ever had in my entire life. Social networks kill more than you could ever realize. That's what. Because I noticed before a LOT that there are MANY people feeling extremely frustrated about negative comments to their comments, which happens on every media site.

So, the less you write on the internet, the less comments you'll get. That's basically my point here LOL :D

So, if you want to keep your inner peace... This was a tip. :)

Pretty much, I believe so too. Basically, most people who use social media everyday, especially facebook, and MySpace etc. are usually children, angry people, and/or people who have no vocabulary skills at all. It's basically a bunch of immature, angry people intentionally trying to cause problems, and hurt other people's feelings in my own opinion.
Yes exactly the same feeling I have. Also, I think the internet is the easiest way to vent, which I did too LOL, but in an immature way that people are doing that not thinking how their choice of words affects other people negatively, it's like they forget there's another person at the other side of the computer screen (or smartphone or whatever they are using).

Yeah. To be honest with you I don't like how we live in a world with bad words now. There's too many people that need their vocabulary cleaned up. I don't say bad words at all, because that's the way mom taught me. And I'm glad cause cursing is a very bad habit.
