I Am Egyptian

The situation here is getting intense again Twitter has been on fire for the last couple of weeks. Ever since this person who's an actor and a contractor came out with documents proving that the president have been wasting hundreds of millions on building mansions and such while getting the country deeper in debt and keeping everything else screwed up and things started getting out of hand again! A few days later the president came out and said that he has been building the mansions for Egypt and not for himself! which is the lamest excuse ever then one thing brought another and that contractor somehow started urging people to start protesting or according to what he says start a new revolution.

So by last Friday a few people did start some protests and as far as for today around 500 people got arrested mostly from their homes a day after simply for expressing their oppinion and that number also includes people who were simply filming the protests.

Personally I don't feel like that contractor is very genuine though because he was stealing from the cake as we say here, he was stealing with the government and now he's crying for people to help him get his money back after he "found out" that the government stole from him. I just don't feel comfortable knowing that he's making videos from Spain from his own villa and people here are supposed to have go risk their lives protesting for him while he is safe and sound talking behind a screen.

On the other hand Trump's favorite dictator is really the worst president this country has seen since the independence (which was actually another coup 🤫) in 1952. He's even far worse than the first democratic elected president who belonged to an Islamist group! He even edited the institution back in April I believe to stay in office till 2030! And I wish I was being sarcastic.. That's actually one thing I believe Trump or even Borris Johnson now are dying to do, they must be really envious!

And now everyone who disagrees with the Sisi is a "traitor, an enemy of the country and possibly an Islamist" some idiot even went so far with these accusations and called this person I been following on YouTube since 2015/2016 who is an Egyptian Atheist located in Germany, that reporter called him an Islamist because he disagrees with what's happening in Egypt. I mean that person wrote a book called "The Fall of the Islamic world" which is inspired by another book called "The Fall of the Western World" and he recently released another book called "Islamic Fascism" seriously a simple Google search tells you a lot of things about him, I actually did read the first book. How come he's Islamist 🤷

Another issue here is again people are being urged start another revolution with no plan as to what comes next. One of OUR main issues here is people always want that hero who is going to make everything perfect.. Even in 1952 they made a hero out of Jamal Abdel Naser and he later screwed them up, same thing with Sisi, they made a hero out of him and see what happened now. I am seriously tired of that stupid mindset and I hate how Egypt always end up in the same spot over and over again!

I just feel really bad for those who got arrested and that alone makes me angry and wanting change because come on 2030 really? I don't think that's possible especially after what happened last week, he's definitely losing supporters now and the protests against him in NY proves that. He's out there talking about things he doesn't believe in and Trump is treating him like he's his spoiled child. That won't end well.

Hell could break loose anytime now, I might be too paranoid about this but if I disappeared for a bit it'll mean internet is down. They already did that once back in 2011 and they could do it again to try and get people not to protest.

What can I say, courage to you and your people, reading this it reminded me of Turkey's situation too, but every dictatorship which is allegedly a people's republic has the same issues more or less. I hope you will find a plan to break out of it, but there's rarely any. Like look at what happened in Sudan recently, they fought the dictator and they now have "transitional military government" which means another dictator. So you're not being paranoid for worrying and actually thanks for reminding and informing us. I really wish your struggles will end with a good, or at least better than what you have now, result.
@HannibalAteMeOut That's true. It pretty much is either a civil war or an iron fist military government. I hope things get better too somehow. Thanks.

@kingkyri oh if Egypt reveals some good oil spot, the west will go faster than the amount of time it takes for a blink
@kingkyri Yup. True democracy has to come from the inside and only from the inside.

“True democracy” is a myth.

As you know we can’t afford to go through another revolution. I was never for Mubarak stepping down.

Since I have dual nationality, I could have left long ago. However, there’s a lot you can do in egypt. Business opportunities you could not get anywhere else. I have a daughter who can’t stand life in Cairo and now lives in dahab. She tried Paris for a year and got a good taste of racism when applying for jobs. There were very nice people of course but home is home. A lot of people who leave Egypt actually miss it.

Yes! If you’re going to try to disturb the peace and demonstrate there are consequences. Economically we can’t afford another revolution. Almost 100,000,000 mouths to feed And the last revolution used up all our reserves. Today we are borrowing money!

I’m not for the projects our president has done, he should have focused on agriculture, production and self reliance. We’ll see if things will change soon.

Believe me, another revolution and we’ll end up like Syria! You’ll have foreign mercenaries coming in from the borders and you’ll end up like Libya, Iraq and Syria. You won’t see peace for decades. Politics is a dirty game.

Change has to come from within and slowly. It might not happen now, but it has to change. Nothing stays the same for ever.

Anyway, when I look at elections in the west, there’s always the choice between worse and worst! If a person running for elections doesn’t follow the requirements, he/she doesn’t stand a achance. It’s not the people electing, it’s the system giving you a choice after the system has chosen the choices for you. That’s why western foreign policies have not changed. You’re living under a dictatorship which is the system. If people revolt against the system, you’ll see what will happen! It won’t ba pretty! What is the system? The deep state? Call it what you want, it’s people who decide everything for all and who control the media.

My mom has a nice place in the suburbs of Paris. neighbors complain from the slightest noise! That’s when I miss egypt. I use the underground and people are so stiff, tired, mechanical. That’s when I miss egypt. Yeah! There are beautiful gardens, trees and clean streets, yet there’s something missing. Something that makes me come running back to Egypt because a month is too long in Paris! Imagine? My daughters feel it too
