Religion is Abuse [I Am Agnostic]

Raising a child to believe in something with zero evidence is brainwashing. You set that child up to become dependent on those beliefs so that even when they realize it's wrong, it's very difficult to break away. If religious people really believed in 'free will', they would stop brainwashing children to believe what they believe.
It's also very damaging to your mental health to consider everything good to be a favor from God and everything bad to be your own fault.

You passed a test? Thank God! Nothing to do with studying hard of course. But being born with a debilitating disease? That's what you get for going to sin at some point.
@NerdyPotato Its a religion of POWERLESSNESS doing that

I'm a Christian but I agree with not forcing your religion on your kids I believe kids should be left to be just kids they can choose to belive or not once they have matured.

True, to a degree. Children are indoctrinated at a young age to whatever religion their parents happen to be (be it Christianity, Judaism, Islam, or whatever else). At some point, intelligence has to play a part, though. Why do so many continue to cling to their religions, even when they are exposed to basic scientific principles throughout their education? Perhaps they are blinded, to some degree, by the brainwashing, but I'm amazed at how many people refuse to acknowledge other religions and other points of view.
But so maybe they think the Founding Fathers had some free will. After all its a novel idea creating a special country JUST for neo-classic republican values and a new vision of government thats not top down. Its the will of the people after all.

They said God was great but after he set things all in motion, he decided the rest should be up to YOU AND ME.

Maybe that will help. Technically their faith was called "Deism", It was based on free will.

True story.

Lol ... of course ... from New Zealand

Surprised? ... not
"Let children learn about different faiths, let them notice their incompatibility, and let them draw their own conclusions about the consequences of that incompatibility. As for whether they are ‘valid,’ let them make up their own minds when they are old enough to do so.”
― Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion
Thing is ....children are pure souls.
They usually feel a stronger connection to spirituality than adults do .

I remember sitting in church going...."well this doesn't make sense....I'm not sure God would appreciate this "

And I remember feeling sorry for all the adults desperately needing church to make them feel spiritual and good.

I just used to sit there and imagine what God would like people to do instead of waste time in church ...like help people 😁

I don't think religion ruined me ....it made me seriously contemplate my soul by my conscience .
im a christian you can instill your beliefs into your kids but you cant run their life to have them believe what u believe especially when they get older, its about their choice same with politics, its political abuse to instill that into your kids.

@MarmeeMarch okay, then we're on the same page. Parents are indeed allowed to offer their religion as an option, as long as they do not hinder their children if they express interest in atheism.
