Eden, my child

Silly One
I don't love you because
I just love you
Not because of who you are, now
Not who you've been
Not who you'll be
Not what you've done
Not what you've said
Not what you've done not
But the one who has done
The one who has spoken
The one who is
You.

I love you because you exist
I love who you are
like I loved you then
and so will I love who you become
as you become

Beautiful as you are,
a lively sprout, a seed.
Lovely will you be, a tree, life spiraling towards the sky.
Slow motion, branching into being, flowering in the spring, fruit in the fall.
Yet disaster strikes
casting your body ashen on the floor
I love how you sprout again,
changed, ever-strengthened.
Raging to preserve the light of you, even as a new light strikes and another consumes you you return to yourself.
Not death, not an evaporation of life, but a transfer, a revival, forming & reforming your image, but more
striving anew for life in the darkness of the sea, crawling, then running, with no feet or many, claws and talons, golden fur and feathers
Breathing - leaves in, lungs out.
All things come together in the lovely union of you
All things moving, seen and unseen, as wind upon water, my son, the light of the universe, the first spark and the raging fire, pulsating into all being, a Word whispered in silence.
