I Fed a Homeless Person
My father once told me, "If a homeless person asks you for money, offer a meal instead of money."
Today, that's exactly what happened. I was in a Subway once and a guy came up with a shopping cart with his stuff. He looked exhausted. He asked me for spare change. I had none but I told him, "Order whatever you want and I'll buy it for you. No problem." His face lit up and relaxed at the same time. He ended up getting a footlong, chips, and a drink.
I got a cookie for myself. I thought I earned it since I was on jury duty that week and the trial just ended.
I'm not going to wax on about it, but it made me feel good to do something my dad got a chance to do many times in his life before.
