(1) make sure you get the inserts for your shoes, they make a big difference.

i have inserts, but they don't fit in my summer work shoes; i'll be wearing them more often once we get into boot season. and i don't know how to swim. anyway, the last time i took swimming lessons my orthopedist advised me to stop because of the problems with my hip.
