Heard the news this morning...

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is now threatening to ban vaping and remove all products from the American public.

The reason? Because there was a 70% rise in teen usage.

Now, I can understand the outrage over teens using vapes, and I'm not here to defend it at all. But, to outright ban the product from everyone is pure BS, especially for the bogus reasons that have been given.

First of all, vapor shops and manufacturers are not targeting teens.i have been in shops all,over the US, and in each and everyone I go to, they ID the same way they would for alcohol and tobacco.

Secondly, no... Offering fruit and sweet flavors aren't meant to tempt kids. Believe it or not, adults enjoy a variety of sweet flavors too.

Third, vaping can actually needed and useful for some people. I was a heavy smoker (3 packs a day) for over 70% of my lifetime, and tried everything to quit from parches, to gum, to inhalers and pills. Thanks to vaping, I haven't had a cigarette in 2 years.

Forth, so far the medical community is divided on the affects of vaping, and the research is inconclusive. Some claim it leads to lung disease like "popcorn lung" and other problems, while others say it's at least 65% safer than smoking, and there is virtually no risk from second hand vapor.

The long and short is... For years I was preached at and treated like a second class citizen due to smoking. I finally found something that helps, and now they want to take that away too. WTF?

I've never been a smoker and I don't want anyone in my family to start vaping, but I agree with you the ban is stupid.
@Lostpoet vaping. Stupid autocorrect lol

@PrivateHell oh. Lol
It's a type of censorship.

@PhoenixPhail that's exactly what it is. Along with a case of people trying to dictate how others should live their lives
@PrivateHell Agreed.

I'm surprised the FDA came out with any kind of notice. I thought they weren't working now, stopping inspections and such, due to the shutdown. I understand what you're saying though. My neighbor uses a flavored vape for the exact reason you're using it. I really hope they don't ban it for both his and your sake, along with all the other people who need it for the same reason.

It's probably because of stories like that of the little girl who drank a unicorn flavour one and got violently ill and ended up in hospital 🤒
@SW-User what does a unicorn taste like?

@SooperSarah 😂 I dunno but the package label made her think it was candy of some kind
@SW-User Kids do this all the time with stuff. You don't see flower scented detergent getting banned. Even with the dumb tide pods thing.

I was so confused at first when I read "ban camping" like why would they ban camping (?), but then I realized it was probably an error and you meant vaping lol
@NaturallyPeculiar my phone hates me. Lol

@PrivateHell Lol auto correct always gets everyone.
On the note of what you posted about, I don't smoke or vape or anything but even I think banning vaping is stupid. If they want to try to make it harder for kids/teens to get access to vapes then that's one thing, but completely banning it and its products is just unnecessary. Or if they want to ban it for health reasons then they better ban alcohol, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco first and basically anything else that has effect on health since I'm pretty sure vaping isn't the worst possible thing a person could do to their health but it's all just excuses anyways 😒

I just glad I dont do it. That way I dont have to worry about what happens to it😬
True. I was on a medication that helped me until the manufacturer stopped making it. If something helps even one person it should be kept.
@SooperSarah the "negative" health impacts aren't fully,proven either way at thulis point. Officially the effects are "inconclusive".
@PrivateHell The evidence is rapidly piling up. You can ignore it and play jeopardy with your health until it's made "official" if you want. But don't be looking for sympathy like smokers did when cigarettes were officially labeled as bad for them. You can also claim underage people aren't being targeted and sold to. That doesn't mean it's true. Underage use is skyrocketing. That doesn't just randomly happen.
@SooperSarah you misunderstand what I am saying... I am not claiming camping is good for anyone. What is true however, is that for every doctor you find saying it leads to certain health problems, I can finals one saying it doesn't. The research isn't there yet for either side.

As for targeting kids, believe me. When you travel as far and often as I do, you get a much wider view of the actual picture. It simply isn't happening anymore than it is for alcohol or smoking.

When I smoked, everyone whined about it. I tried everything to quit, found camping actually helps. And now they want to take that away too.
