So after being 7 months clean I went from 67kg to 79kg

And most of my clothes are getting tight on me.
I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing?

Good job on staying clean. You can always lose the weight. Sobriety is more important.

@SW-User ^^ agree with this... I gained weight when I got sober - in the end I've tried to stop worrying about it. However I do know binge eating is one of my other addictive coping strategies so I do my best to watch that carefully.
7 months is, IMHO, still very young in sobriety. Focus totally on that before worrying about the weight
According to studies, Cocaine doesn't necessarily suppress your appetite and you don't eat significantly more when you get clean. Instead your metabolism changes as it isn't being affected by the drug. Cocaine stops your body storing fat properly so you lose weight. They actually found on average coke users consumed high fat diets and when they stopped taking the drug their diets didn't change which is why they would gain weight quickly.

Best advice: Reflect on your diet to see if you are eating too much fatty foods. Switch to healthier options. Also remember that 80kg for a 6ft tall man ain't fat.

@Qwerty14 surprisingly, I don’t eat fatty stuff or processed crap, I eat pretty clean, and grow my own food in my backyard pretty much, I do eat quadruple the amount I used to.
This was pretty much my diet when I was an addict lol.
Depends how tall you are. 67kg is a reasonably low weight for a man
@SW-User well done for getting clean man, ain't easy.
SW-User
@MushroomFaerie I think I’m going through the hardest part of getting clean at the moment, the alarming appetite and weight gain lol.
@SW-User yeah your probably using food as a drug right now and your body is trying to recover by getting you to consume any nutrients in front of you but don't worry about that right now. You've done so well. If your concerned you could use physical activity to distract yourself but coming off your in danger of taking things too far to replace your addiction

An upward trend in weight is healthy while losing an addiction.
SW-User
@SW-User there was much needed weight gain but enough is enough lol.
SW-User
@SW-User How are you feeling about your addiction? That would be the real question. Cause there is the awkward conversation if you feel you dealt with it, have you not replaced it with food? And how to tackle that ... I'm guessing one day at a time (not trying to make an assumption only making a note of a normative).

@SW-User inhabe my moments where I want to feel that high again, but I did replace that with seeking adrenalin rushes every opportunity that comes lol. I’m slowly getting my sense of pleasure back, starting to remember what made me feel alive other than drugs, which explains increased appetite, but I don’t eat crap, I’m a healthy eater, just eat a lot more than I used to, back when I was addicted I would have a “lunch time charge up” instead of eating.

May take a while for your body to re-adjust.
Can't kill an addiction and not expect a repercussion somewhere along the line !

It's a good thing. Fatten up a little lol.
SW-User
@5thApprentice I never thought I would be able to put weight on, but ive noticed my weight gain more now, it’s only a matter of time before I can’t see my thingy looking down. Maybe just two more binges should shed the kilos off again lol.
