Please forgive me for stapling bologna to your face

I'm really sorry. Come back to me.

I'm confused. What else is Bologna that I'm not aware of, aside from the city?
@Elessar Bologna sausage. Most always shortened to bologna.

@canusernamebemyusername I've searched it and I'm even more confused, because it doesn't exist in Bologna, but apparently only in north America. 🥴

I guess they saw this and thought it was a sausage, whomever brought that one up

@Elessar Is that mayonnaise in the meat loaves things? And what's that giant biscuit thing in the back right?
@Elessar Yeah it is an Americanized version of mortadella. The American one is obviously bland though. lol

@uncleshawn brb, calling an exorcist

@canusernamebemyusername I'd want to be in the mind of the first who saw a mortadella and decided it was a sausage, just to admire the confusion, lol

@Elessar That's me. First time I bought some was in the Middle East. A ton of it sold in the Middle East for some reason. I didn't know what it was and bought some. Uh....unpleasant surprise.
@Elessar Cant say what the first person was thinking but sausage means seasoned with sage so if it ever had that in it that might be the origin. IDK though.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@canusernamebemyusername Ah. I thought they were these, exclusively
@Elessar Yeah I get that. I know in America at least if a sausage gets to the size of mortadella/bologna (american spelling baloney) then it is referred to as a luncheon meat regardless of seasonings or history.

Oh, gotcha. Over here we're stricter with what we define "salsiccia" I suppose.

Yeah, I bet the -gn- in Bologna generated confusion in the pronunce too lol, Baloney sounds like a completely different word. The sound is basically the same as ñ in Spanish.
@Elessar Language is fun sometimes. Except when learning it. lol

@canusernamebemyusername Agreed, lol. Anyone who ever attempted learning French can probably confirm 😬
