Leaving my main job soon

Thanks everyone. For me, history is repeating itself. Thirty years ago I was in a job which had been absolutely great, and then came a change of 'management', which meant ignorant ws telling me what to do and then expecting me to clear up when their 'methods' didn't work.
I vowed after leaving that job (BTW my successor lasted three weeks) that I would never work in such conditions again, so I became self-employed. The best decision I ever made, as you can choose who you work with. For 24 years I've been working part time in a charity, managing the lot. Then a change of trustees, who don't have a clue but who accuse me of upsetting the smooth running of the charity, which I've been running all that time without their laziness and self-satisfaction.
So I'm out at the end of the year, having given nearly four months notice. My choice, and I'll just wait for reports about how they get on. I have a business my wife and I have been building in the background, so we will not be without an income, but there will be a dip until the business takes off properly, which it will, as it thrives in recession.
A bit poorer, temporarily, but happier, and in control of my life again.
