I Really Need to Be More Assertive

After a really nice, relaxing 11 days off, I have to go back to work tomorrow and quite honestly, I have no idea how I'm going to make it through the day. I could cry thinking about it

I'm 15 weeks pregnant, I work in a stuffy, overheated hospital and am expected to work just as hard and as quickly as I did before I was pregnant. That means hoisting, lifting, bed pushing, no sitting down and barely getting any water all day.

I've come to the sad conclusion that some workplaces are better than others with pregnant employees and mine is pretty bad. I'm the only one who is looking after myself and my baby, so if I'm slow or can't lift large men into standing, then I need to just ignore my colleagues being bitchy about it and the constant pressure from my superiors to work work work without stopping. I need to start saying NO. That is very hard for me, but it's basically my baby's health that will suffer.

Congratulations unfortunately working in that environment myself I know exactly what it's like. Umm your definitely going to get the comments and the side glances. Can you cope with it until the announcement?
Do what you can but I suggest getting a letter from your gp advising help with lifting etc as that's the only way these people will listen.

@Peppa oh, also they all know I'm pregnant, they just don't care

@Starsandfire welcome to the nhs. They think because they work in healthcare and they deal with more serious cases having a baby is nothing. And you know what to some women it isn't. Uts a flipping breeze but to others they aren't so lucky. I suggest having a bit more spinach, taking your pregnacare tablets, and drinking as much fluids as you can before work, during lunch and after...
It's better to sip but if you can get through a half litre when your home you'll notice the improvement.
Sorry hun
