I Am Not Religious

My in laws told me they would "pray" for my daughter. Will that close the massive hole in her heart then? My father in law also attributes god's healing to the surgical removal of many cancerous tumours all over his body. Not the highly trained, skilled surgeon or anything...

I posted this deliberately on a "I am not religious" page because I understand people do what they do because it brings them comfort, it gives them something to do when they can't do anything and I will not criticise their choices. I just don't want them telling me and expecting me to believe in any way that the power of prayer will miraculously heal my daughter or that something other than human science and skill can "cure" cancer. It's self soothing but ineffectual and a waste of energy.

To me, prayer, meditation, positive thoughts, etc., are all energy that one can direct at a problem, in the absence of any other viable course of action. It's just faith, and some people take that to the bank.

@uncalled4 absolutely, and good for them. It makes me mad when they get me and my child involved though.

@Medelan I do wish the very best for you and your daughter.
