To me, prayer, meditation, positive thoughts, etc., are all energy that one can direct at a problem, in the absence of any other viable course of action. It's just faith, and some people take that to the bank.

My heart goes out to your beloved daughter! Why not accept their statement as it was intended;Just a well meaning,sincere,heartfelt gesture for their grandchild and let it go at that.You trust in medicine and that's okay;Their faith-based trust is in God and that's okay too though i do understand from similar events in my own personal how extreme stress can make us all feel "fed up" at times.Most often,with those closest to us.Best wishes for your beloved daughter and you!

There has been many unexplained recoveries over the years . I'm not saying prayers always help or ever help other than for the persons own peace of mind. Some do it especially when they can't help any other way . I have a daughter that I've raised as a single parent since she was 2 . If this was happening to her I don't know what I would do . But don't completely knock prayers off the list . That's only my opinion. Again I hope everything turns out for your daughter.

Just because someone says they will pray for your daughter, doesn't mean they are expecting you to suddenly take up their beliefs.

I don't think anything, be it prayer or science, works by itself. I feel they rely on each other.
