I Am Proud of Something I Did
A friend of mine asked me to write a letter of recommendation for her for a job she's applied for recently.
I was happy to do it. Took some time and carefully thought about what I was going to say, editing here and there.
Printed it out and left it for her to read with a note saying "E-mail me if it needs changes or isn't acceptable."
I caught up with her a couple of days later and asked if it was ok.
She looked at me, wide eyed, and said, "That letter was spectacular."
Needless to say, I was quite pleased. After teaching elementary school for so long, I sometimes feel like my brain is atrophying.
I read my old "Norton" books from college almost voraciously. The feast may be familiar, but you always savor the flavor each meal.
Plus, every once in a while, I get a hint of a taste I didn't get a previous time.
It's quite wonderful and well worth coming back to the table.
It's nice to know I still have "the touch".
I hope she gets the job.
