I Have Changed

I've always believed that people should be treated equally. Specifically when it comes to sexuality and gender. In recent years there's been a lot of talk about the whole bathroom ordeal. Should a transgender individual be able to use the bathroom they identify with? I use to say no. Had my reasons and believed they held firm. But as of lately I've had a change of heart. As I've developed a relationship with a friend it really makes me think... You want your friends to be happy, confident, and comfortable. Therefor they should be able to use the facilities they feel comfortable with. I honestly can't imagine what goes on in her head. I hope that the whole bathroom situation isn't a huge deal to her. But it does make me wonder. Hopefully in the near future this won't be a debate anymore. But a rightful law against the discrimination.

Why did you say no before?

The whole biological side of it. You're born male or female therefore I believed you should stick to that when it comes to things like bathrooms, or when identifying on the census, etc.

Hmm. I feel that way, but too few people like accepting who they are.
