I Believe Work Is For Work, Not For Home

This new job is really starting to get to me... I have a long commute and crazy hours and some weeks I only get one day off which I'm worried about getting ready for the next day of work. I'm missing out on times with my husband, and I'm missing out on my child.... and myself... I am starting to feel scared and constantly stress and depressed... the job itself doesn't bother me, but just all the time I'm missing sucks... I'm so miserable...

Not sure what you do for a living but a lot of the workforce is moving towards remote/work from home situations. If you have the ability to manage yourself, and a good opportunity arises, I can't TELL you how nice a 1 minute commute to the office is.

@LvChris: Good luck. Once you find your rhythm (mainly in learning how to separate work from life) it's awesome. And if you're working as an independent contractor you get a TON of write offs. :)

@seeandhear: I'm not sure. I haven't had many jobs with skills that look good. This job does so I want to work long enough for a good reference I guess. It's just eating me up because they almost expect me to do more than 40 hours and one day I may work first, the next 3rd, and the next 2nd. Then I have points in the schedule where I work 4 days have one off, then work 4 more days. I'm just losing it.

Well maybe you should talk to your husband and see if they family could survive on one salary.

Not off his salary we can't. @updown2020:

@UsuallyInvisible: Well maybe find another job that's not so demanding.

How long have you been on that job, now? Any improvement? Or deterioration?
KelXtraAF · 31-35, F
Not really much improvement. I finally got a week where I had more than one day off. There's just nothing I can do about it so I stopped complaining. @daydeeo:

If you're constantly stressed, that's just not a good thing. I used to use my long commute to unwind - listen to music, messages or even pray and sing. I hope you're able to find some kind of balance.

I understand completely
