Totally agree. I was taught that you don't get too close to workmates. You are cordial and professional

I hate the expectations that you go to group functions with each other or the dreaded Christmas party. They have ruined many a reputation and promotional opportunities.

@Newandimproved Even me telling her I have tons of work to catch up with she starts sitting down on the extra chair and I end up in a borderline therapeutic session for her! UGH

@prsunshine2929 yup. Sometimes I just let someone like that prattle on while I work.

Eventually they get the point.

@prsunshine2929 sometimes you just pretend to work and ignore them. 10 to 1t minutes normally is enough.

Sometimes their feelings get hurt...but if they are so self absorbed then they are no big loss :)
