Its a handful but I wouldn't trade it for the world

Never did I think I'd be raising kids by myself! Their mom and I spilt years ago and she got enrolled in the navy. We agreed it would be best if they lived with me when she's deployed.

This morning my 11 year old daughter woke me up around 6 and told me she think she's having her first period. My immediate reaction was to call her mom but I remembered I can't get a hold of her now. She look frightened and all worried so I knew the onset was on me to restore calm and reassure her it was all natural.

I tell you folks, talking her through everything and explain the changes her body is going through, made me feel real good and like I mattered because she's such a momma's girl.

I absolutely love being a dad.

They should have had a lesson at school about that by her age, I’ve heard older women say that they didn’t have a clue and were badly frightened the first time thinking they were going to die all because it wasn’t talked about back then till it happened
