Here you have an icon talking about her first grade teacher who was one of the ONLY people who understood her. This is what is great about teachers. Many teachers have kids who make-up stories and they listen and act just as interested as if what they were telling them was true. Why? That interest could be all they need in the moment. It is great to read this and find that confirmation in Marilyn Monroe’s diary, “Fragments”.
And I quote, “Maybe that’s why I told the teacher all those lies all the time... because she seemed so interested in them and seemed to talk to me & like me maybe I didn’t want her to treat me like Aunt Ida did.”
