I always thought it was weird that fraudsters go to prison.

Like yeah fraud is pretty bad, but it hardly seems to warrant shoving someone in a cage for years of their life. Like they're not a physical threat to anyone, just take their shit and make them do community service or whatever.

But their actions can and do ruin people’s lives
So I think prison is a reasonable punishment

Likely as non violent offenders they will serve their sentence in a medium or low security facility

Which has better accommodations

Yeah, like fraud is more than just "pretty bad" many, many times. Unfortunately, even putting someone in a cage doesn't always stop them from continuing to try and scam people, and succeeding.

If you lost your home to a fraudster, you would be singing a much different tune. Fraud is not victimless.

@zork0000 Sending them to prison is just wracking up more expenses. 🤷‍♂️ You could give them like a million punishments other than jail time and it'd be just as effective and cheaper. Their credibility is gone at that point anyway, so they'd have a fat chance of doing more fraud.

@BlueVeins There are tons of serial fraudsters that prove otherwise.

If there is no threat of jail, they are just gambling and will never stop.

So taking someones livelyhood and making them poor or causing them to lose their home does no harm?
BlueVeins · 22-25

whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@BlueVeins Yes. Do you not consider being thrown into homelessness and poverty a physical threat?
