Bad teeth

If a person has no teeth, have they had them all taken out due to having bad teeth, or did they just sleep under the pillow one night !?!

My 2 front teeth are fake, due to a vehicle accident. I had to be without them for over a year before I could get fake ones. Not fun. I had one good front tooth, but it got infected because the other one was broke from the accident.
