It's a shame when some people don't do the same

It's a shame when you're having a nice and decent conversation with someone online, they just log off without saying anything. If I log off, I always say I'm going to log off now, talk to you later or have a goodnight. I don't just leave people hanging in the dark. Don't know why it's so hard for other people. It's just common courtesy.

Hmmm...I think you are used to very nice in-person manners.

Online sites tend to feel...less intimate & actually personal in the friendly social way you mention.

I don't think people are intentionally rude; most would probably be surprised bc they do NOT want to be rude to nice ppl (like the one you see in the mirror 馃槉)...

I have fallen asleep trying to stay in a conversation which I believe is important to the other person...not intentionally rude, just not able to stay awake. lol
