And my puppy is inside scared and upset. Can't find a locksmith.

interior door locks tend to be wildly easy to defeat. they're almost always there more as a suggestion than any real deterrent

@dirge usually on the outside, theres a recessed button you can push in to release... something like a coat hanger will do it.
