Okay guys...I am into the 6th chapter now and thought I would stop and post some thoughts thus far. I might forget them if I keep on going without posting.

Chapter 1. Page 14

While I do believe that Science and the Bible are aligning up some, I can somewhat agree that the world has been around for much longer than what it seems is depicted in the creation facts of 6 days in the beginning of Genesis. If one digs deep enough they find that the Bible says, in 2 Peter3:8 "...one day is with the Lord as a 1000 years, and a 1000 years is as one day". :)

However I do not believe that we had to evolve to have our "skin, or hands, or lungs, or bones". As we Bible believers know that the Holy Bible tells us that God took a rib (bone) from Adam and made Woman. Genesis 2: 21-22 tells us, "And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he woman and brought her unto the man.

As far as the rest of the chapter, how much we are like lobsters was interesting. I certainly believe that standing straight with your shoulders back certainly portrays competence and confidence!

The second thing that really jumped out at me was simply this, and I know it is not really a big deal but I strongly disagree with it.

Chapter 2. Page 31

The author says, concerning patients noncompliance with their medications/care as ordered by their physicians, "Physicians and Pharmacists tend to blame such patients for their non compliance, inaction and error." and "Psychologists tend to take a dim view of such judgements. We are trained to assume that the failure of the patients to follow professional advice is the fault of the practitioner, not the patient." As a healthcare professional, I know that this is simply not true. I mean we, physicians included have taught patients til we are blue in the face about diabetes...and quite frankly if they do not eat right, and take their medicine as prescribed, they could lose their vision, ruin their kidneys, and lose limbs, and many do. They can tell us with clear understanding what they need to do, yet they will not take their medication or eat right...and many lose limbs or have kidney failure...It's the same with hypertension. We can preach til we are blue in the face, yet they will not keep check on their BPs nor take medicine as perscribed...and yet they too know all too well they could have a CVA (stroke), and many do. Same thing with clogged arteries...they know what to do, yet they do not have the discipline to cut back that red meat, exercise, and keep cholesterol at healthy levels...Many will wind up with open heart surgery with triple bypass before giving up something that they want or exercising discipline (And I am all too aware that much of this is just in the genes, but they can and must do their part to fight against these diseases to keep them under control).

Chapter 3

Oh to me so much of this was just common sense. "Make friends with people who want the best for you." Yes, hang out with people that are not going to pull us down. Make wise decisions as Mama always said, you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.. :D We are influenced by those that we camp out with. There is so much I could say about this chapter but it clearly speaks for itself and I have no disagreements there.

Chapter 4
I really did not have anything jump out at me in this idea other than I agree that we should compare ourselves to who we were yesterday and GROW than who someone else is today.

Chapter 5

I sat on the edge of my seat wondering how this author felt about physical punishment of a child...I really had no clue which way he would go on this and was so glad when I discovered that I agree much with his writing/thinking.

Page 123, The author says, "...modern parents are simply pluralized by the fear that they will no longer be liked or even loved by their children if they chastise them for any reason. They want their children's friendship above all, and are willing to sacrifice respect to get it. This is not good. A child will have many friends, but only two parents..." I so agree..

Page 134 Says You can discipline your children, or you can turn that responsibility over to the harsh, uncaring judgmental world... And the motivation for the latter should never be confused with love. I say PREACH!!

You can leave your children for society to correct, but it will be behind bars very possibly, and they will not be corrected with love. It is love for a child that will correct them ahead of time and make them fit for the society and the world we live in.

Page 142 minimize necessary force.

Page 141 says, and I found what I was looking for this whole chapter...

"If your child is the kind of determined varmint who simply runs away, laughing when placed on the steps or in his room, physical restraint might have to added to the time out routine...If that fails, being turned over a parent's knee might be required. For the child who is pushing the limits in a spectacularly inspired way, a swat across the backside can indicate requisite seriousness on the part of a responsible adult. There are some situations in which even that will not suffice, partly because the children are very determined, exploratory, and tough, or because the offending behavior is truly severe." Kudos to the author!

Proverbs 22:15 tells us that Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."

Okay...on the chapter 6!

@therighttothink50 You are welcome..From now on I will post them as I read/feel them. I had to read half of what I had read again to find the points that I wanted to comment on. haha :)

@SW-User i have a small white blank bookmark, i write the page and paragraph down i want to go back to this way and i avoid marking up the book. you can do this if it helps, bookmark and pencil needed, cut your own blank sheet of white card stock :)
SW-User
@therighttothink50 Well about the 5th chapter I started doing that... LOL
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Just finished up chapter three.

Chapter three deals with a whole bunch of questions we need to ask ourselves as individuals. Do we choose our friends wisely? Is nihilism while wallowing in self-pity and depression a convenient cop-out a bunch of us people choose to cling onto just to avoid life? Do we conveniently choose an existence over living?

Are we sincerely willing to help ourselves or somebody else, is each person genuinely taking the necessary steps to be helped? Does bringing a troubled person into a group setting, be it in the workplace or other spaces within our lives with the intention of helping them have more negative or positive results?

Are we being honest with ourselves and our intentions in caring for a friend? Is it about inflating our own ego or really taking the time to help a person we know really truly desires to be helped? Are we men and women of virtue or just virtue signalers?

All questions which require an honest introspection and reflection, all dealing with why/how we choose our friends and if they truly want to be helped. Do we honestly want to be helped ourselves? Do we genuinely take the necessary steps to produce positive changes within our lives and the lives of others ?

Seratonin levels contributing to how we feel. Just rising the same time each morning can help us all every day :) .......
SW-User
@therighttothink50 That was interesting..but really nothing new to me. We should also go to bed around the same time at night too. haha I know that's not in the book but it does help our sleeping rhythm and very helpful for those that have sleep issues. :)
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M

therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
We simply can not ban everything which we feel is offensive to us. We can't become so self-conscious to the point where beauty shames the ugly, strength shames the weak and so on. We can not settle for existence but rather we need to choose the will to live. To live with purpose even if it risks offending others at times. Even if it causes us unhappiness at times.

We need to embrace and appreciate other people and ideas which enrich our lives and make us better people. Ideas and people who cause us to think, even if we disagree at times. Healthy debate is a good thing, shutting down freedom of thought and expression is evil. We simply can not ban other people's ideas and words.

Political correctness brings about a society which yearns for nothing but only produces a society of thumbed down empty people devoid of purpose. All existing based upon the idea of being liked by all which is an impossibility. To please everybody. It is not realistic, it just divides people. It is pure phoniness.

I’m gonna buy it Friday! Let’s do this !! 😊

SW-User
@katielass I left a detailed comment below..on each chapter I have read as of yet. :)
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@katielass You prolly ordered from somebody out of the usa, always check and ask the seller where he or she ships from. amazon should be put in jail for not putting up front where stuff ships from.
katielass · F
@therighttothink50 Oh crap., I never look at that but I;ve never run into this problem before. I got an email a few days after I ordered it and it said the estimated date of delivery would be 3/26 to april something. Jeez, lesson learned. thanks for alerting me. Don't let me hold anything up. You guys go ahead and I'll try to catch up and if I can't keep up I'll just go with the next one.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
I just finished the introduction, overture and first chapter, last page read 28....Oh my moral relativism and virtue signaling by millennials who knew :)

Lobsters and more lobsters, order and chaos within society. Stand up straight with your shoulders back, please don't droop now.

Who would of thunk it, there is a pecking order to society and our individual responsibility and actions determine where we stand. Who would have known... :)
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Anybody start the book yet, like I said i am up to chapter 2 now.
katielass · F
@therighttothink50 Mine has been shipped but not yet received. I'll catch up.

katielass · F

ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
Sounds great! Hope I can get in on tbis.:)
akindheart · 61-69, F
@ravenwind43 go to ebay. it was cheaper than amazon. plus free shipping
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
@akindheart Thanks!
akindheart · 61-69, F
I am currently on chapter 2. Had to get past the lobster analogy. on Page XXX, this was profound-It isn't precisely that people will fight for what they believe. They will fight, instead, to maintain THE MATCH BETWEEM what they believe, what they expect and what they desire. They will fight to maintain the match between what they expect and how everyone is acting....THAT is profound.
Splendida · 51-55, F
Yay this sounds fun! : )
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@Splendida will you be joining us?
